People Really Like Me!

It was so great to hear from all of you that told me that I lacked blogging skills, or that you haven't heard from me in awhile. I kind of took a break off for the holidays, but it was nice to know that people had actually been paying attention to what I was sharing.

Superstar won something earlier this week. I won something tonight. We had a chili cook off for Enrichment (our women's meeting at church) and I won the best over all chili. Yeah!!!

Dad has started back to school for his Master's Degree. He is busy every Tuesday and Wednesday now and also whatever extra work he will have.

We get to head off to DC for next Monday. Very excited about that!

Saturday Morning Cartoons

I know I grew up loving Saturday Morning Cartoons. Waking up as early as I could, so I wouldn't miss the cartoons. Well, that was until I moved over seas, then I would get VHS tapes of recorded Saturday Morning Cartoons.

Any one with kids today, especially if you don't have cable or satellite, your kids probably enjoy the Saturday morning cartoons. I am noticing, it's not quite as a big deal as it was when I was a kid, probably because of all the cartoon and kid shows you can get through cable and such.

A few weeks ago the kids were watching Kids WB on Saturday morning. You know how they have the contests, to win money and such. Well, Superstar wanted to compete in the contest, we went online together and signed up for the contest. I told her, you know kids all over are signing up for this contest, you know you don't have much of a chance of winning.

Well, today in the mail, we received a package from Kids WB. She actually won 2nd place. It's two DVDs full of WB cartoons. She is very excited! So I guess this means she'll want to try more contests.

Off subject, no surgery tomorrow. My doctor's office signed me up for an out of network hospital on accident. I am rescheduling for a in-network hospital some time in the future.

Long Awaited Holiday Pics

I know I never got any holiday pics up. We had our Thanksgiving with a couple other families at the church building and lots of good food. Also, pictures of the kids eating their gingerbread houses they made at Cullen's office party. There are many more pictures coming with time!

Busy, Busy, Busy!

Hello everyone!

I know it's been forever since I have updated. The holidays did their normal craziness on me! Way to much to do in way too little time. Hopefully soon I will be able to update with pictures. I haven't been sleeping well, because I am still trying to squeeze in too much stuff every day!

We got to go and visit family for Christmas. We got back the beginning of the year. As we were trying to get back into our routines, I came down with a very nasty case of strep. It took me out for four days. I had a ton of stuff scheduled for the week that followed (which is this week and weekend), so I have been twice as busy. My brother called a couple days ago and said he's coming up this weekend too! It'll be good to see the nephews again, and it will stay very busy.

I am ready for some relaxation. I have surgery on Wednesday (removing a tumor on my thumb), I know I will at least get to rest on that day! Pretty sad when you are looking forward to having surgery, so you can have a day of rest.

Kids are doing okay. Home school has been a bit more challenging this year (yes I am talking the entirety of 2008). I have had some challenging days too, with everything going on. I need to find a good way to relax and hopefully get a better daily schedule going on.

By the way it's my Mother-in-Laws 60th Birthday today!

Happy Birthday Mimi!

Which Would You Choose?

H a p p y H o l i d a y s People are getting busier everywhere, if you haven't noticed, it's Christmas time. Yes, so it's time to do Christmas cards again. Well, I had a few pictures to choose from. Out of these pictures, which do you think we used as the Christmas card picture?

I Love My LED Book Light

(not exactly like mine, but really close)

I found these book lights about a year ago. Yes, I know they have been around much longer. But last year I realized that this was one way I could still read in bed when Hubby had gone to sleep. Hubby has always gone to bed much earlier than I ever have and likes all lights off and sounds off, but this light does not bother him. Now having some "me" time and being able to relax at the end of a day with a good book has been awesome! I have been able to read so much more over the last year than I ever have before! Kudos to whoever came up with this grand invention!

Need to start up again

It's time that I update, before the new year comes.

I have been reminded this past week a few times about my love for cooking and I realized I haven't blogged any recipes or anything about cooking this whole time, at least as far as I can remember.

I do love looking through cookbooks and finding new recipes and trying them. I have also loved the amazing Internet with great search engines. I have found many recipes of things that I have tried and wanted to make. The girls are actually loving looking through cookbooks, right now Superstar wants to be a cook when she grows up.

What better way than to add a favorite that I found since we moved to Tennessee.
(I have found a microwave brownie recipe that could be made in minutes, but I thought that would make things a little harder as I was trying to stay away from chocolate, so I haven't tried that yet.)

This one was found on www.cdkitchen.com

Red Lobster Cheddar Biscuits

Ingredients: (I usually double this recipe, because I make really big biscuits and everyone always wants them, it only makes 12 extremely big ones when I double it)

2 cups Bisquick. baking mix ( I googled how to make a homemade bisquick mix, because I almost never have pancake mix)
2/3 cup milk (I always have to add more milk)
1/2 cup cheddar cheese -- shredded
1/4 cup margarine or butter -- melted
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Directions:
Preheat oven to 450. Mix baking mix, milk and cheese until soft dough forms; beat vigorously for 30 seconds. Drop dough by spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 min. or until golden brown. Mix margarine and garlic powder; brush over warm biscuits before removing from cookie sheet. Serve warm. Makes 10-12 biscuits.
