Corinth Greece

Travel Tuesday

My Hubby used to do a travelogue on his blog, way back when. I decided to share places I have been and also places I want to go.

Girls Camp
This was the entirety of the girls from our church youth group in Athens, Greece. This was when the group was at it's largest, later it was just me and another girl. Okay, I'll fess up I really think we were camping pretty close to Corinth, but I'm not 100% sure. My memory sucks, and nobody bothered writing on the back of the pictures, I know we hiked to see some ruins too (how unusual in Greece). It's sad when all the ruins just look like another pile of rocks. It was so bad that I never made it up the Acropolis to see the Parthenon all the years I was there.

I would love to go back and see these places again with an adult outlook on them. As you can tell, I wasn't too concerned with the awesome places around me. So I don't have much to tell about them.

We had a blast though. I was always one for making the best of the time you had and trying to make it as fun as possible. That is where the water-bottle dance came from. There was not much to do and it was extremely hot there, so we had to stay hydrated with water bottles, what's the best thing to do with empty water bottles? DANCE, of course!

It's great having these pictures of the great fun carefree times. Now we all must do something spontaneously, wild and fun today!

I think Michelle turned around to check out the guy on the rocks!

We camped in an actual tent!

The infamous "butt" picture!

Farewell Scale

I was talking with one of my aerobic instructors a couple weeks ago about my hatred for my scale. I bought my scale a few months ago, because my old one bit the dust. I spent some money on the scale, because I wanted a good scale. It does the body fat percentage, has a place for multiple users. Then just recently it seemed to start jumping weight up or down by up to ten pounds. Now when you loose 10 pounds in a couple days, you know something might be wrong with your scale, but it doesn't hurt your feelings much. When you gain 10 pounds practically overnight, it does nothing good, even though you know it's mostly just the scale.

My instructor asked how often I weighed myself. I told her daily, (What I didn't tell her was that I weigh myself all day long. I like to see how much I weigh morning, afternoon and night.) she frowned at weighing yourself daily. So I asked if weighing in weekly was better. She suggested just throwing the scale away all together and not get on a scale and to go by how you feel. Well, for someone who weighs themselves at least 3 times a day--that seemed a little drastic. (Okay, maybe I have a problem with the weighing in thing.)

I decided to put my scale away and put it up for a month. So I weighed myself yesterday and will be pulling out my scale 1 July. I'm hoping this helps me stay more motivated through the whole month also. Seeing I am working towards a longer goal, weighing myself through the day doesn't help towards anything. So hopefully this great new outlook will help, I will keep you posted, and hopefully I don't fall off the wagon, it'll be tempting to weigh in at the gym.

Yeah, I got problems, most people stay away from a scale at all costs.

Flashback Friday

Mary, Stacy & Me

All of us in my car.

I have seen a lot of others that are blogging along with a Flashback Friday and I decided to join in, just not officially, just doing my own thing.

Yes, of course I started off my flashback with the first older pictures I came across and it just had to be my Prom pictures. Wow, it's been a few years--16 to be exact. The one cool thing about coming across these pictures was coming across a picture of my first car. Yes, I loved my car. It was a rusting, piece of floor missing, most of the time had to push start, great, great car. So many great memories of that car. My Dad bought it for me for $200 back in 1992. The car itself is a 1976 Datsun B210. Yes, for some of you younger kids out there, you have never even heard of Datsun, but you know them as Nissan now. I kept it until I got married, which was about 2-3 years later.

Now I am really trying to remember Prom for Biloxi High School 1992. I know for one thing, I did not want to go. I went strictly on the fact that I didn't want to look back and wish that I would have gone to Prom. I have no clue what the theme was. I went with a group of guys and girls that were stag and some couples--I went stag, I did not want to make it a bigger production than it already was. (I need to look for the picture of all of us at the Prom.) This is a picture of me(the short one) and two of the friends that I went with. I think we went to a really nice Italian restaurant before hand. I showed up to the Prom, took our picture to prove I was there, then went back to my boyfriend's house after the Prom. That is a pretty boring Prom story, but I can say I went! I also wanted to add, many of you know I have a pretty crappy memory, so if you happen to have been there and have anything to add or correct, let me know!

Here's a picture of a side view of a car like mine, of course mine was white, but you can see a better view of it. I'm not sure if I have any other pictures of my car.

Never Argue With a Two-Year-Old

When the girls were younger I started saying, "Never argue with a 2 yr old." Then I appropriately changed the age to fit the age of the child. I hadn't thought about that in awhile. Then Bobo woke up this morning. His first statement of the day, "It's Sunday." Of course I know it's not, so I tell him, no it's Thursday.

Bobo---No it's Sunday.
Mom--No, today is Thursday, it's trash day.
Bobo--It's Sunday, it's church day.
Mom--We're going to the gym.
Bobo--Go to church.

You think I would have remembered you don't argue with a 2 year old before this point. I just gave up, then he gave me one last to go on, he stated kind of in a questioning tone, "It's Friday?" I just let it go. (Yes, I'm a slow learner, but I did learn.) Later in the morning he tried the Sunday thing again, it was kind of funny.

I'm glad this happened, because I haven't thought of my never argue with a ___year old in awhile. I need to remember this. Especially with the girls getting older and I know a whole new level of arguing is probably a brewing. So I am hoping to remember to not argue. State what needs to be stated and leave it be. We'll see what the future brings.

Roaming Can Be Dangerous

Hey, I was roaming around and came across this nerd test.
Enjoy. I have to give my Hubby the credit for the Sci/Fi comic nerdiness, I only scored that high because of him!!! Okay, so I have enjoyed some of it through the years, but don't know if I would have been introduced to it without him.

Happy Birthday Girl!

Had a Great Friday!

I know there should be some rule about sleep deprived Moms trying to blog (you think I would know that as I have had to erase and retype just about every word so far.) Yes, we had a fun day, but no real sleep for Mom.

The first exciting thing to our day was going to the zoo and going to a class on butterflies, then going to the butterfly exhibit. The class was informative, then the exhibit was wonderful. We ran out pretty quick, seeing we had the B-day party to get ready for still. I stayed long enough to have a butterfly land on me and someone else actually had my camera and took a picture.

The party went over well, no melt downs or fights, which is always a good thing. We started by decorating shirts. (You'd think I would have taken pictures---I kept forgetting the camera yesterday.) Then we played some games, Wii and Twister. Off to the traditional presents, cake & ice cream. Through the night we roasted marshmallows, played flashlight tag and a flashlight code style game. I think the kids had fun overall.

Bobo tried to keep up with the girl's all the time. He actually stayed awake and played the flashlight games outside. He kept on insisting to paint a shirt (I finally caved in). I know there will come a time that he will be happy just to annoy any girls in the house.
